In this study, the correlation between profitability and sustainability of the capital structure of
listed companies in Tehran Stock Exchange has been investigated. The purpose of this study
was to determine the profitability index, the ratio of retained earnings, changes in debt and
what kind of relationship there. The 101 companies from 19 different industries during the
period 2006-2011 were reviewed.To analyze the results of research, software Spss 20,
Eviews7 and Minitab16 is used. The results indicate that the Profitability Index and the ratio
of debt to changes and also between Profitability Index and the ratio of retained earnings
changes there is a significant relationship .
