چکیده :

This research has investigated the relationship between emotional intelligence and mental health of teachers in Shiraz city. The aim of the research was to gain an insight about how emotional intelligence impacts mental health of teachers. Population consisted of 145 teachers in region 6 of the Shiraz city in 2013. Method: The relationship between emotional intelligence in 5 dimensions (self-awareness, motivation, empathy, social skills and handling emotions) and mental health investigated. Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version, 20.00 employed to analyze the data. Spearman correlation and Kendall’s tau b test plot were utilized to analyze the data. Results: Results indicated that there is a significant relationship between the emotional intelligence and all of its dimensions with mental health of the teachers. All the proposed hypotheses of the research were significant at the 0.95 confidence level.
