چکیده :

The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effects of attitude on EFL learners' choice of affective and social strategies. To this end, a sample of 108 intermediate level Iranian EFL students studying Teaching English and English Translation was presented with a modified version of Oxford's SILL (Strategy Inventory for Language Learning), and a language learning attitude questionnaire. Based on their performance on the attitude questionnaire, the participants were divided into three equal groups of high, mid, and low attitude. To analyze the obtained data and to answer the research questions, two separate one-way ANOVA procedures were used. Results indicated that the level of attitude has a significant effect on students' choice of affective strategies, but no significant effect on the choice of social strategies. The findings of the present study may have implications for teachers and learners.
