Innovation strategy is fundamental to the success of innovation in firms. We have developed a conceptual model related to the most important innovation strategies which can have a significant impact on performance. The structural equation model was tested with AMOS18.0 using data from seven main construction industry institutions in Iran. The results show that the overall model fitness was satisfactory which indicate a sufficient validity of the model. As well, of the five hypotheses tested, two were rejected. Therefore, the claimed importance of the innovation strategy was confirmed. The findings suggest top managers should be leading innovator to guide industry and firms in adapting, integrating and reconfiguring their technological competencies, managerial capabilities and resources endowment and also helps them in exploring and exploiting new opportunities.
