چکیده :

Purpose: Despite the expansion of Internet and Specialized search engines in Medical Sciences, Lots of users encountered problems in retrieval of their information need. It's because of knowledge deficiency of their information need or related search tools. Understanding the information behavior in terms of providing better service to users is fundamental role of information systems design. This study Concentrates on determine Information Seeking Behavior of Graduate Students of Tehran University of Medical Sciences through the measurement of Their knowledge level from Information Seeking Models and search Performance in Two Medical Literature Search engines Pub Med ,High Wire. Methods: This is an applied research with descriptive and analytical research method. Questionnaire included 15 closed questions that most respondents could select more than one option and two checklists one includes 9 options and the other includes 26 options 5 types of questions related to any field of academic medicine students was presented to them to search in Pub Med ,High Wire through their checklist and based on the scale to achieve Lykrt spectrum set between 100 active students in the 5Graduate Schools of Medicine, Paramedical, health, rehabilitation and Nursing - Midwifery based on «sampling proportional assignment» were selected and the distribution and response collection was set. This research helps test and SPSS software Virtual Stopwatch 3. Results: Based on research findings 10% of Graduate students acquainted with information seeking models.70% uses English language in information search. lack of access to papers full text with 69% mentioned as maximum and information retrieval exceeding with 39% mentioned as minimum level of problem in the search for information.49% of respondents information seeking models based on Alistair duff model. 40% of respondents due to the accuracy of retrieved information, 61% due to receive full text articles, 27% due to speed information retrieval and the number of retrieved results, 61% because respondents refer to Related Articles respondents and 7% due to the graphic display magazines Pub Med and the High Wire was used. % Respondents with Pub Med, 6% of respondents with ALIBABA, 4% with CHILIBOT, 2% with ReleMed, 2% and 1% with the SLIM HUB Med were familiar. Conclusion: The results show that Graduate students of Tehran University of Medical Sciences to do more search the Internet for research activities. Digital library of TUMS was mentioned as the most important source of information. Specialized search engines were mentioned as the most important search tool, key word search was mentioned as the most important strategy. English language search is the most important information, lack of full text articles as the most important problems in information search and retrieval. Pub Med was mentioned as the most important search engine. Alistair duff was mentioned as important information seeking model. Most of the graduate students of TUMS search performance relatively well and were due to the accuracy of retrieved information, receive full text articles, information retrieval speed and the number of retrieved results and related articles from reference Due to Pub Med and display graphics of journals first page due to High Wire.
