چکیده :

One of the important issues receiving much attention from organizations is quality. Based on using various systems of quality control and adopting qualitative valid certificates by manufacturing and service organizations, this issue has been considered in our country. The quality assurance system of international standard of ISO 9001 has received much attention. The researchers have found that different types of motivations (internal vs. external) of adoption of ISO 9001 certificate can result into achieving different performance outcomes in organizations. This study attempts to use the indices presented by other researchers and investigate the effect of motivation for achieving ISO 9001 certificate on organizational performance in automotive industry of Tehran province. The study methodology is survey. A questionnaire is used for data collection. The study method is designed with a 15-item questionnaire. We distributed the questionnaires to the manager of quality control, quality assurance manager, HSE manager, performance assessment expert, technical engineering manager and ten experts of quality unit in automotive sector. Finally, 101 valid questionnaires are collected. To support hypotheses, correlation regression and descriptive statistics are used. It was found that internal motivations compared to external motivations had high effect on adoption of ISO 9001 certificate and internal motivations had positive relationship with performance. The companies with higher internal motivation score of ISO 9001 certificate showed better performance.
