Overview of diagnostic tests in patients with cardiovascular disease

Background: Because of high incidence and mortality rate of coronary artery diseases, laboratory evaluation of these diseases is significantly important. The main aims of this study were to overview of diagnostic tests in patients with cardiovascular disease. Materials and Methods: The review through searching in Google scholar search engine and database magiran, Sid, PubMed and iranmedex with keyword cardiovascular disease, diagnostic tests, Coronary Artery Disease and Myocardial infarction between 1990 and 2015 was performed. Results: The results showed that troponin testing i, t, leptin, HDL, LDL, CK- MB, CPK, oxide LDL autoantibodies, anti-cardiolipin antibodies, homocysteine, folic acid, vitamin B12, and fasting plasma glucose and two-hour glucose , uric acid, reactive protein c, malon di aldehyde, Pro-Brain Natriuretic Peptide in the diagnosis of cardiovascular disease have diagnostic value. Some studies have shown that a combination of two or three tests had more accurately in the diagnosis of cardiovascular disease. But the result of a study showed that PTH has no diagnostic value. Conclusions: Based on these laboratory findings, screening for these patients in terms of these findings could help to assess trend treatment of patients. Complementary studies are also recommended.
