Background: Prothrombin time (PT) and partial thromboplastin time (PTT) tests are used to evaluate the coagulation system. Levels of PT and PTT can determine heparin effect, warfarin anticoagulant therapy, liver failure, disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC), vitamin K deficiency. Methods: 600 (300 men and 300 women) blood samples was collected in sodium citrate tubes. PT and PTT tests were done on plasma of samples. Results: PT levels in all of patients were 11-70 second and the levels of PTT were 13-170 second. The mean of PT was 14.40 second in men and 14.24 second in women. The average of PTT was 40.44 second in men and 41.87 second in women. There were no significant difference between PT levels in men and women (p>0.05) and there were no significant difference between PTT levels both of sex (p>0.05). Conclusion: Our results were indicated that there were no relationship between PT , PTT levels and variation of sex.
