Today, the simulated models of human body or “phantoms” are extensively applied in radiobiology. In this review, physical phantoms and also three successive generations of computational phantoms; including the stylized, voxel and hybrid models, are presented. Each of the models has unique characteristics so that they have been individually developed and used in different situations. It should be noted that, the advent of phantoms, especially computational phantoms, along with Monte-Carlo simulation codes is considered as a revolution in dosimetry calculations and makes the possibility of studying about situations which are impractical, such as radiation effects on DNA strand and cancer induction, treatment planning, etc.
