Austria is one of the German-speaking countries that have an essential role in the field of Iranology and introducing Iranian history and culture, great characters and fine works of Iranians to the world, especially Europe. Iranology in Austria had ups and downs in different periods. Joseph Hummer Purgstall is called as the father of Iranology and orientalism in Austria and even some parts of Europe, and this is because of his many efforts to introduce East and Iran to European, train skillful and active students, and also establish Austrian Academy of Sciences. Now ancient languages of Iran within the framework of comparative Linguistics the Indo-Germanic major are teaching occasionally at the Universities of Vienna, Salzburg and Innsbruck, but the discipline of Iranology isn’t teaching as an independent discipline in Austria’s universities. More parts of the present article derivative of a research by Dr. Nosratollah Rastegar in the field of Iranology in Austria, which is provided after adding some new content.
