چکیده :

Objective: The purpose of this study was to analyze the distance covered by players in a match, according to players positioning and range of velocities. Materials and methods: During the 2012-2013 season, the activity of 30 players over 90 minutes and 66 players over 45 minutes were analyzed using a computerized match analysis system. Match performance variables analyzed included: the total distance covered and the distance covered in five selected categories of velocities. Results: Mean total distance covered over 90 minutes and 45 minutes by all players independent of positional group was 8368 and 4279 m, respectively. Over the period of the 90 minute, Midfielders and forwards covered a significantly greater total distance than the defenders. Over the 45 minute, the shortest and largest distances were covered by the central defenders and external midfielders, respectively, whereas external midfielders did not differ from central midfielders. The overall distance covered by outfield players during a match consist of 4.8% standing corresponding to 396 m, 65.8% walking corresponding to 5474 m, 22.5% jogging corresponding to 1905 m, 5.1% running corresponding to 438 m, and 1.8% sprinting corresponding to 156 m. There was no significant difference between players of any position when comparing the distance covered with the highest velocity (sprinting) in the 90 minute. Over the 45 minute, central defenders and external midfielders covered a shortest and largest distance in sprinting, respectively. Conclusion: Overall, the main findings showed that there were significantly differences between players of different position when comparing the total distance covered and distance covered in the different categories of velocities. Therefore, it may be useful for individualization of training according to playing position.
