Solving Fredholm integral equations of the first kind of convolution type using polynomials

A simple and e±cient method is proposed for approximation of the solu- tion of Fredholm integral equation. The method is based on polynomial expansion of given data using polynomial ¯tting. First kind integral equation of convolution type, can be reduced to a linear upper triangular system which can be directly solved by backward substitution. The method applied to two test problems, computed solutions are compared with exact solutions to show the e±ciency of proposed method.
