SYNTHESIS OF VANADIUM OXIDE NANOTUBES FROM V2O5 GELS

Vanadium oxide nanotubes were synthesized using V2O5 powder as the precursor and hexadecylamineas the structure-directing template using a sol-gel reaction method followed by a one-step hydrothermal treatment. The structure and morphology of the nanotubes were investigated by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy, and Thermo gravimetric analysis, and Fourier transform infrared spectres copy. The inner and outer diameters of the nano tubes varied from 30 to 40 nm and 50 to 130 nm, respectively. The nano tubes measured several micrometers in length.
