An Investigation of Ornament Characteristics of Iranian Tombs in Timurid Dynasty Period

Tombs have been built mostly in commemoration and sanctification of eminent and influential people became important gradually and through passage of time such that modern studies consider them as important monuments of each period. Iran has many tombs due to its special geographical – political condition, which have been built for popular ruling, literary, scientific and religious people. Tombs of Timurid period are of great importance because their architecture is rooted in Central Asia and has taken Iranian form gradually. For this reason, in this article, we try to study ornament characteristics of tombs of Timurid period by analysis of these monuments. Findings of this investigation indicate that magnificence and spatial order in generality and detail of these tombs are of the most important characteristics of these monuments.
