چکیده :

Introduction: Candida albicans is a commensal and opportunistic yeast in the oral cavity and healthy individuals vagina. Adherence to host tissues and secreton of extracellular enzymes are the important virulence factors for C. albicans. In addition phenotypic switching in C. albicans is effective in pathogenicity, increase in adherence and enzyme secretion. The aim of present study was to compare the ability in secretion of extracellular enzymes in phenotypic variation C. albicans isolated from oral cavity Materials & Methods: Phospholipase, haemolysin, proteinase and esterase activities were demonstrated using Sabouraud dextrose agar (SDA) supplemented with egg yolk, SDA supplemented with 3% glucose and 5% sheep blood, SDA with Bovine albumin serum and SDA with tween 80, respectively. Results: Detectable amounts of phospholipase, haemolysin, proteinase and esterase respectively were produced 83%, 100%, 33%, 83% and 83%, 100%, 75%, 83% in the two dominant phenotype dark pink and dark pink with white margins of C. albicans isolates. Discussion: Our results showed that majority of phenotypes exhibited high levels of phospholipase, haemolysin, proteinase and esterase activities and low isolated don‟t showed enzymes activity.
