Comparing Degree of Readiness for Implementation of Knowledge Management in Public and Private Universities in Iran

The current research investigates and compares the degree of readiness in knowledge management infrastructures and ranks them in a public and a private university. The research population consists of all faculty members in these two universities. The research used census in the public university and random stratified sampling in the private one. The research tool was a 5-point Likert questionnaire measuring the attitudes of respondents. The results showed that the public university is not ready for implementation of the knowledge management system,while this readiness is at an average level for the private one. The “culture and human factors” found also as the most important dimension in both public and private universities.
