چکیده :

Enterococci are currently considered as one of the most important causes of mortality in hospitalized patients. Enterococci is the fourth causative agent of nosocomial infections. The aim of this study was to identify Enterococcus faecalis and to determine its drug resistance In a strain isolated from clinical specimens hospital and treatment centers in Marand city. 200 samples of Enterococci were collected from hospital and treatment centers in Marand city. Enterococcal species have been identified with standard phenotypic methods and Antibiotic susceptibility test was performed according to standard CLSI Disc diffusion method. The drug resistance was performed using the E.test method on Vancomycin resistant specimens. Of the 200 isolated samples, 100 samples of E. faecalis were identified. The results of antibiotic susceptibility test showed that E. faecalis had the highest resistance to Penicillin (83%), Tetracycline (43%) and Ciprofloxacin (41%) and the highest susceptibility to Linezolid (87%), Imipenem (85%) and Ticoplanin (70%) were antibiotics. The Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) was found to be between 32 and 256 μg/ml for Vancomycin resistant specimens. 60% of the samples had Multiple Drug Resistance. The emergence of antibiotic resistance and high resistance to Vancomycin in E. faecalis strains are noteworthy. Because the selection of appropriate treatment for infections caused by Enterococci is reduced.
